UBC Okanagan Library Facts & Figures

  • Through the UBC Library system, students, faculty, staff, and community members have access to over 7 million items, including books, ebooks, films, journals, maps, and sound recordings.
  • UBC Okanagan Library items have been borrowed over 34 thousand times in the past year.
  • One of the busiest libraries in the UBC system, we’re a popular place. UBC Okanagan Library had 688 thousand visits in 2014/2015.
  • We’re open on average 110 hours per week and even more during exams! Students can study until midnight most nights during the regular semester and until 2am during exams.
  • We answer more than 17 thousand inquiries each year in person at our library service desk, over the phone, and online.
  • We have over 650 seats for students to study, including group study space, study rooms, as well as quiet and silent student space.
  • We provide computer access with 125 desktops (both Mac and PCs) available to students, as well as 40 laptops available for either 7-day or 24-hour loans.
  • Our librarians taught 200 library sessions and workshops to help over 5 thousand students with their library research.
  • The Library doesn’t just help with research, we help with writing and dissemination too! Writing and Research Services held 40 workshops, including writing boot camps, in the past year. The Writing and Research Centre in the Library had over 2 thousand appointments that provided undergraduate students assistance with their writing, while the Centre for Scholarly Communication had over 700 consultations with graduate students, faculty, and researchers.
