Learning and Technology Assistants
LTAs provide peer technology support within the Library. LTAs are trained to assist students with Connect, to troubleshoot computers, wireless access, printers and scanners, and to maintain library and campus lab technology. A broad understanding of student computing needs is required. Approximately 10 LTAs are hired for each academic year.
Student Project Employees
The Library employs students to work on a variety of projects. The number of project positions varies each year. Projects in the past have included academic research profile creation, website assistance, and library survey design and implementation.
Writing consultants work in UBC Okanagan’s Writing and Research Centre (WRC) to provide writing support for all undergraduate students working on any kind of writing assignment for a class. WRC writing consultants help writers with various stages of the writing process, such as developing a draft, clarifying an argument, organizing written materials, understanding editing techniques and effective sentence structures, and building beneficial writing habits.
Graduate Writing Assistants
Graduate writing assistants work in both UBC Okanagan’s Writing and Research Centre (WRC) and Centre for Scholarly Communication (CSC) to provide writing support for undergraduate and graduate students working on any kind of assignment, thesis, journal article, or other scholarly writing. Graduate writing assistants also supervise WRC writing consultants and work on projects for the WRC and CSC.
