The Library is a place where students, faculty, staff, and community connect—to one another and to new thinking that inspires people, ideas and actions for a better world.
Discovery and Research
The Library is a collaborative, interdisciplinary place that fosters innovation and new thinking on the UBC Okanagan campus. The Library plays a critical role in the research enterprise, and supports a wide range of students and faculty, from graduate students to lab managers, to funded researchers. A fundamental partner in research, the UBCO Library offers writing and research workshops, assistance with the creation of research data management plans, and one-on-one guidance on Tri-Agency funding requirements.
Teaching and Learning
Committed to supporting transformative learning experiences, the Library is a collaborative partner for students and faculty throughout their academic careers. From scholarly communication advising to writing and instructional supports, the Library offers myriad ways to enhance learning and improve outcomes both in-person and in the classroom. Unique learning environments such as the Inclusive Technology Lab and the Graduate Commons provide students with the spaces and tools they need to succeed.

Spaces and Collections
Our spaces are dynamic, flexible, and adaptable in order to offer faculty and students learning environments where they can thrive. Our mission to be an inclusive place is exemplified by the user-centric design in our spaces and buildings such as the Commons, Inclusive Technology Lab, Innovation Library, and our renovated first floor and service desk.
Library collections fill a critical role in the mission of UBC as a world-class research university. At UBC Okanagan, our physical collections represent a robust, active working collection of just over 200,000 volumes, with an ongoing partnership with the Vancouver campus for access to deep research collections. Our digital collections include an extensive, multidisciplinary collection of electronic journals and ebooks, as well as UBC’s Open Collections.
Campus and Community
The UBC Okanagan Library provides welcoming learning environments for students, faculty, staff, and visitors on the UBC Okanagan campus and is committed to being an inclusive nexus for scholarly engagement. Beyond the campus, we take an innovative, leading-edge approach to community partnerships and engaging with our local and regional community. Our successful partnership with the Okanagan Regional Library (ORL) includes both the Innovation Library in the ORL Kelowna branch downtown and the ORL @UBCO branch, which serves the entire campus community.
Our partnerships extend across the Okanagan through our Digitized Okanagan History project, our Leader in Residence annual conference, and via our partnership with the Project Literacy Central Okanagan Society.
