Accessibility & Inclusion

As reflected in our Strategic Framework and mission statement, UBC Okanagan Library values inclusivity and accessibility.

We work closely with the Disability Resource Centre to support students and yet we do not require or collect any medical or personal information in order to offer assistive supports. The following list contains frequently requested support:

  • Assistance with retrieving physical books and journals
  • Assistance with navigating accessibility features in different library databases
  • Modified access to print collections, loan periods, and return procedures
  • Individual tours of the Library and Commons buildings with a focus on specific features

Inclusive Technology Lab

Located on the first floor in the Library, the Inclusive Technology Lab (ITL) is a supportive environment designed to facilitate learning and research with assistive technologies. The ITL includes a computer lab, group study space, distraction reduced study room, and a collection of technology to borrow.

Library Instruction

Librarians provide instruction on research skills through individual consultations, in classes, and with content provided through Canvas. In all cases, we strive to create Accessible Library Instruction.

Connect directly with your Subject Librarian to learn how to make the most of the accessibility features in the tools that you use for library research.
