Gain experience and help shape the future.

What is UBCO LSAC?

UBCO Library Student Advisory Committee (LSAC) gives students an opportunity to share their perspectives and help shape how UBC Okanagan Library supports the student experience.

UBCO LSAC members provide insight into current student needs, priorities, and challenges so that UBCO Library can plan services that are relevant, inclusive, and responsive.

No library experience required! This is a low commitment and high impact volunteer position that will look great on your resume.

If you don’t use the library often, that’s okay—we want to hear from you too. The UBCO LSAC’s primary role is to better understand student needs, regardless of how frequently people use library services.

What happens at UBCO LSAC meetings?

UBCO LSAC meetings are facilitated, discussion-based sessions focused on specific topics related to students and library services.

  • Share their experiences and observations
  • Learn from and exchange ideas with fellow students
  • Help inform UBCO Library’s planning and decision making as appropriate
  • Contribute to enhancing the overall student experience at UBC Okanagan

Expectations and Commitments:

  • Members are invited to attend 3-4 meetings between November and April
  • The UBCO LSAC meets in person (light snacks provided!) and hybrid participation is available
  • Each meeting is 60-90 minutes
  • Meeting times are scheduled in consultation with UBCO LSAC members and their availability

UBCO LSAC members should:

  • Care about improving student life at UBC Okanagan
  • Participate actively in discussions
  • Engage respectfully and thoughtfully with peers
  • Attend at least two scheduled meetings

The UBCO LSAC is facilitated by UBC Okanagan Library with a commitment to:

  • Creating an inclusive and welcoming discussion environment
  • Planning meetings carefully to respect everyone’s time
  • Sharing post meeting summaries with committee members
  • Reporting key insights and themes back to UBCO Library
